Our Story

Dr. John Strunk, MD

Dr. J. Chris Strunk, a practicing board certified psychiatrist in Dothan, hails from Tennessee. He completed his medical degree at the University of Tennessee (Go Vols!!). His internship was completed at the University of Colorado (Denver) and his residency in psychiatry was completed at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He has earned the honor of being a Fellow Psychiatrist. Dr. Strunk has been in Dothan for twenty years where he has been actively involved in numerous nursing homes and extended living facilities.

He has privileges at Southeast Alabama Medical Center, and Laurel Oaks Children's Hospital. Dr. Strunk is the Medical Director at The Senior Care Unit at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva, Alabama and also at Donalsonville Hospital in Donalsonville Georgia.

He currently supervises both Medical and Nurse Practitioner students. Dr. Strunk was recently presented a Special Recognition Award from Fortis College for overseeing and educating students who have chosen to work in the medical field.  His staff consists of people trained in the medical field, including one Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner, one Licensed Professional Counselor, one Associate Licensed Counselor and one Master of Social Work Counselor. A psychologist is available for all forms of testing. 

The mission of Wiregrass Wellness Clinic is to provide an excellent state of the art patient centered psychiatric care in a timely and efficient fashion. Our practice philosophy is that our patients deserve a respectful, caring and competent relationship with all members of our staff. Each patient is treated individually to ensure that all their psychiatric needs are met. An individualized treatment plan is developed for each patient.
